The Lexingtonian is a blog focusing on the beautiful and often over-looked city of Lexington, North Carolina. In Lexington, barbeque is king and life happens at a much slower pace. This blog attempts to explore the culture, food, and hidden gems of this small city.

Cindia Gonzalez

Cindia Gonzalez Leonard

Cindia Gonzalez Leonard is owner of C.G. Leonard, Writing and Design, a social media and online marketing firm based in Winston-Salem, N.C. She graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where she received her master’s degree in Magazine, Newspaper, and On-line Journalism. She moved to Lexington with her husband Zach.

Cindia loves going out to eat and eating in general. Her first blog, “A Real Girl, Living in a Diet World” for Jerk Magazine, focused on her struggles with dieting and losing weight despite her love of food.

Cindia has other interest outside of food, like a well-made strong cocktail. She also likes yard sales, flea markets, and anything “vintage” or “retro.” She loves decorating her home, working on her new vegetable garden, and vamping up old furniture. She enjoys cooking, a lot, and is always willing to attempt any recipe.

Heather Morris

Heather Morris

Heather Morris holds a Master of Arts from Emerson College and a Bachelor of Arts from Salem College. She grew up in Florida, and braved the Boston winter for three years, but has decided to make North Carolina her home. She’s an editor and writer, and a notoriously picky eater (so check out those good restaurant reviews—they may come few and far between!).

Heather loves exploring Southern culture and is slowly learning the backwoods and byways of North Carolina. In addition to her love of books and language, she also enjoys baking, traveling, and teaching herself Photoshop. Sadly, she is not the Heather Morris who is on Glee.

Ryan Jones

Ryan Jones

Ryan Jones recently joined the ranks of quasi-employed college graduates after receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English from Salem College in Winston-Salem. She works for a nonprofit dropout prevention organization in Lexington and writes as a freelancer in her spare time.

Ryan loves being outside, particularly when there is a body of water nearby, and will use any excuse to make a trek to the coast.

Besides the ocean, Ryan’s interests include scouring farmer’s markets for the perfect tomato, getting lost in good books and, of course, dining out anywhere she can get a good beer and a meal worth talking about.

Zachary Leonard

Zachary Leonard

Zachary Leonard is a graduate student of the University 0f North Carolina at Greensboro, where he studies Library Science and Information Technology. He is a native “Lexingtonian” and has moved away only to come back to the town he loves. He wants to share his experiences of small-town living in this blog. You can currently meet Zachary at the Davidson County Public Library on Main Street where he works.

His great loves are barbeque and Cindia. He is trying to find the best barbeque restaurant in Lexington–no easy feat.
